Creating Lab Reports  

Please fill our all the areas on the lab form.  When completed,  click on the  submit button at the bottom of the form.  Then print out the response page and hand in to your teacher.

A formal lab report includes  7 sections.

  1. Title, name of author,  teacher's name and  date.
  2.  Purpose- This should be one or two sentences. Explain the reason for doing this lab.
  3.  Hypothesis- Make an educated guess or prediction. Do not use "I." Instead, use, "It is thought that…." Or, "It is believed that…."
  4.  Materials and Procedure - What you used, how much, and what you did. The materials should be listed and the procedure should be given in numbered steps.
  5.  Data and Observations- All data and observations are included in this section.
  6.  Analysis - This is where you explain what your data means. Interpret your data and any mistakes that were made. Any results that were not predicted are explained here. Examine your materials and procedures for an explanation. Do not repeat the information included in your data section.
  7.  Conclusion - In one or two sentences explain if your results agree or disagree with your hypothesis.
