Welcome to Mrs. Jablonski’s Genetic Survey
Throughout our study of Genetics, we will learn about traits that are inherited by you through your parents. These traits are simple to observe and record. The data we collect will give you an understanding how these traits are expressed. We will be able to calculate the frequency and explore these phenotypes within our classes. By observing your families, you will be able to construct a pedigree chart to help you explore your families.
The traits you will observe are: tongue rolling, earlobe attachment, mid-digital finger hair, widow’s peak, freckles, and cleft chin.
We will be able to enter our data to the Howard Hughes Medical Institute that is conducting this survey. They are collecting this data from all over the world. This data will be submitted online and be used for calculations and questions. We will be able to use this data in our next unit to look at phenotypic frequencies to calculate Hardy-Weinberg.
Enjoy and have fun bothering your families!!!!
