Does Acid Rain Affect Building Materials?

- Acid Rain contributes to the corrosion of metals such as bronze

- It also contributes to the determination of paint and stone such as limestone and marble. In limestone and marble the acid dissolves the calcium carbonate in the stone, and this solutions evaporates, forming crystals within the stone. As these crystals grow, they break apart the stone, and the structure crumbles.

- Acid Rain reduces the values of buildings, bridges, and cultural objects such as statues, monuments, tombstones, and cars.

- It can dirty buildings leading up to higher maintenance costs

- A program that they came up with was a program called the Acid Rain program which pays the costs to repair the damaged bridges and buildings.

What Is The Effect Of Acid Rain On Things Made From Metal Such  As Automobiles, Trains, Buses, and Other Means Of Transportation?

- Over the past two decades, there have been numerous reports of damage to automotive paints and other coatings. The reported damage typically occurs on horizontal surfaces and appears as irregularly shaped, permanently etched areas.

- Usually the damage is permanent. Once it has occurred, the only solution is to repaint

- To reduce the damage to automotive paint caused by acid rain the acidic dry deposition, some manufactures are acid-resistant paints, at an average cost of $5 for each new vehicle or a total of $61 million per year for all new cars and trucks sold in the United States

What Are The Economic Consequences Of Acid Rain On Fisheries, Forestry, and Agriculture?

The Acid Rain Damage of Forests in Europe

- The acid rain reacts with many nutrients the trees need, such as calcium, magnesium and potassium, which starves the trees. The trees are then much more susceptible to other forms of damage, such as being blown down, or breaking under the weight of snow.

-     Forests in the mountains get a higher dose of acid rain than the ground forests because there surrounded by acidic clouds.

- Acid Rain can cause many effects that harm or kill individual fish, reduce the fish population numbers, and completely eliminate fish species from a lake or a stream
